It really got to me.
A few months ago, I was walking through a grocery store when I suddenly heard someone yell, “No! You don’t deserve that!”
Instinctively, I turned my head and saw a clearly upset mom standing next to a grocery cart with her toddler in it. Her face was tight with frustration, and the baby was crying. “Stop it, or we’re going home!” she snapped. I kept walking, but my heart felt heavy.
I couldn’t stop thinking about it. For hours afterward, my mind kept going back to that little one—was this a regular thing for them? The thought made me uneasy, especially because I know what the research says.
